ç Excerpts   Within these pages I shall spare you tons of overwhelming evidence embedded in real life situations. But to get your attention, I give you cause to think about what others think and say about life’s ups and downs. I give you cause for chuckles here and there — lots of them.

Humor can be risky, especially the religious or political kind. Hopefully,
by laughing at yourself and others, the subject becomes more approachable
and leads to better understanding of what life — and tolerance — are all about.

Let me give you an example that speaks for what I had in mind when I began collecting the material you’re about to read. As I began reading “Polish Divorce” (it had just arrived via email), and was absorbing the message delivered over the Internet, I was already scratching my head and asking myself what ethnicity I could invent to replace “Pole” with a more neutral descriptor, so as not to offend anyone. However, the punch line at the end made me conclude that doing so would take away the charm of the story. Nobody ever heard of “Petican Remover.” So I abandoned my thought of having this poor man come from Petica.

Here’s an episode I remember so well. Four-year-old Robin lived with her parents Nancy and Herb next to us in Flavet, the married-student complex at the University of Florida. One day, Nancy took Robin to the doctor. While waiting to be seen, Robin played on the waiting room floor.
“Please don’t play on the floor; there are germs on the floor,” admonished mom. Back came the inquisitive response from little Robin, “Germs like Heinz?”

She could Not Do It Alone
WHERE WERE HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS?

It's For Those Who Struggle With Alcoholism And Those Who Want To Help

The partial manuscript è• Please email me to request the manuscript draft •A Roman à Clef and Non-Fiction • Approx. 320 Pages

Click to enlargeNews ReleaseI share with you my very sad and shocking experiences trying to help someone who is in the clutches of this evil phenomenon called alcoholism and who refuses to see the abyss of miserable pain and suffering when the overabundance of alcohol has taken hold of what was once a body full of life.

What confirmed my decision to move forward unabashedly, convinced that not taking the drastic step will result in painful, long-lasting guilt triggered by Grace's unavoidable, permanent suffering, perhaps premature demise?

Not even the words of a friend to whom Grace often turned for advice would bombinate and arouse the conscience of the family and friends:

Without “Baker Acting” her I don’t see much point in destroying her or ourselves. She did not benefit from that which she has attended, and apparently will not or cannot help herself. Bottles of wine a day destroy brain cells, Grace is in a downward spiral. Left to her own devices she will eventually wind up hurting herself or others. Bringing her alcoholic drinks is only enabling the worst kind of behavior and preventing any hope of recovery. Friends don’t do that; for her sake she needs to totally dry out and be in a rehab program NOW.

Friends stepped forward to help. One offered, “Although I don’t know how it’s done, I think with her level of denial that would be the best option. I would like to participate in that.” But no one with authority took the bull by the horn and did the one thing that could save Grace.

A life that has been good to Grace by her own admission has, after 63 years, delivered the least forgiving blow — the final weeks in a coma away from her home and her beloved pets, Milky and Tino, cared for by strangers in a hospice.

• READ THIS 28-PAGE BOOKLET •Alcohol attacks body and mind, takes away peace of mind, shatters careers, and upends families. This wicked liquid also opens the door to avarice and is the catalyst in a litmus test to identify true friends.

It's also an intense search for doing the right thing and doing it right.

• In Memoriam •

Click to enlargeç Today is Saturday, September 15, 2007 — just a few agonizing days later. Can you image the shock when I opened my email inbox and one of the messages was from Grace Korse. My blood pressure must have revved up to 200+/100+. Then calm came over me when I realized Grace's nephew, Ed Youdell, replied to my May 12 message to Grace sharing with Grace a photo of my Mia and Magic (Grace helped whenever it became necessary to clip nails and Mia, in particular, put up a struggle.) How is it possible Mia and Magic will never meet Milky and Tino? Grace and I talked often about all of us getting together. Grace appreciated so much when Essie came to visit; and then Essie left us at an astounding age thanks to Grace's incredible love and caring for her pets.
Grace had given her trust and authority to nephew Ed and given him all powers to represent the family and care for his aunt. Now our Grace has been so prematurely taken from us. You can reach Edward Youdell at ed@thefabricator.com or by telephone at 847-804-9063 (cell) or 815-381-1317 (office) to convey your condolences.
Another thought-provoking shocker: Was someone in a hurry? Though on September 15 the announcement was made by her nephew, "Grace is dead," Grace did not leave us on that day. Grace died on Sunday, September 16, 2007 — far short of her 64th birthday.

One measly 3-line notice in The Miami Herald on September 19 let the world — and her many friends — know: "KORSE, GRACE, 63, died 9/16. Services and burial in Michigan. 305-260-4901".
That prompted me to prepare an appropriate notice with Grace's photo for placement in The Miami Herald and making it possible for her many friends to express their thoughts in The Herald's online Guest Book. I then received the following message:
Hello Mr. Dinter, We have been in touch with Ms. Korse's family, who decided that they did not want to put the Guestbook online. We are unable to do so without the family's consent.

Click to enlargeClick to enlargeGrace loved her pets. On the left are Pasha, Essie and their son, Asia; they were born in Singapore and accompanied Grace and her husband to Miami where all three enjoyed a wonderful life and found their final resting place. Tino and Milky are with Grace on the right. One significant question remains unanswered by those who know. What happened to Milky and Tino? Were they tossed into a pond because Grace's love no longer is there to protect them?

Here is what I think: Someone who is in the clutches of alcohol is no longer capable of making rational decisions. Therefore, those rational decisions must be made by someone else and the sick person (self-inflicted or not) must submit to those decisions aimed at restoring the addict's health. Would Grace still be with us had that action been taken? We will never know.

In the Grasp of Apathy and Greed

Diary of a Frustrated Commiserator

A Postscript of Significance

Look around you. How many of your family members, friends, or acquaintances suffer from the evils of alcohol addiction? Take a close look! How many? It's too many, isn't it! Now count those whose life is no longer one of bliss:

  • They don't get up in the morning feeling good.

  • They don't make for good companionship.

  • They don't live productive lives.

  • They suffer health issues (often painful and devastating).

  • They die long before they should (though some dodge the dilemma).

Let us help them, though we failed Grace. I am able and willing to do so, and I will do so. What about you? Let's get together and do it. Let's do it now — we may just save a life. That's worth the effort. Isn't it? Let's get organized to pitch in.
To be effective with our commitment to help, we must step onto the public stage and let our compassion go to work. If you are ready to get involved, please call me at 305-600-4655 or email HDinter@GrandLifestyle.com.

I dedicate this book to
the memory of Grace Korse
(1944-2007)
who could not do it alone
and desperately needed help failed to come forward.
Let Grace be our inspiration
For those whose life spells desperation

Click to enlargeNews ReleaseThe silent suffering and abuse of condo and condo-hotel unit owners at the hands of unscrupulous developers goes predominantly tolerated and unchallenged. It’s this truth that made the real estate promoters the grand miscreants, symbols of what evil is as evil does. It is sad to observe that the innocent victims fall for the big lie and raise their shield of privacy with apathy — they simply don’t want to get involved and accept the price of being ruthlessly sucked dry by the mistletoe — being offered a kiss while feeding the parasite. It’s cheaper, they feel, to suffer from lawless evildoers than to stand up and drive the predators out of their homes or their second homes in a condo hotel.

The Condo Docs Do Tell

What every condominium owner and prospective owner needs to know.
Let the experience of others guide you

• READ THE EBOOK •News Release

A sequel of booklets focuses on the exploitation of condo dwellers by the developer. Dubbed Condo*monium, the first booklet, CONDO SERFS, is now available. CONDO SERFS tells a true story and urges the reader to heed the caveat emptor as part of a search for a condo of one’s dreams or a rewarding investment. Someone's first-hand experience is always a useful guide and the booklets’ intent is to be such a guide. It’s for your peace of mind. As a condo dweller, I experienced developer abuses, shared my research with fellow condo dwellers in newsletters and other writings, and as a result suffered the ire of those I exposed for their wrongdoings.

You’ll read within these pages the true story of tumultuous life in a multi-use condo complex.

• READ THE EBOOK •Why do they turn their back on a precious gift of nature that offers so much tranquility, so much pleasure, so much profound living, and so much economic progress? Because they chose apathy
over caring. That's why.

A sequel of booklets, dubbed Condo*monium, focuses on the exploitation of condominium dwellers by the developer.  This booklet, Apathy Reigns — a true story — focuses on a shame that did not have to linger. It did not have to be.  Why should the manatees suffer because developer greed runs rampant.
